Products / Services

The following products and services are supplied by DAC Foundries Ltd.

  • Non Ferrous Castings

  • The ingot is melted in electrically heated furnaces helping to ensure a good metal quality. Aluminium Our Specialty BS1490 Grades LM4, LM6, LM24, LM25, and LM27 The variety of processes offered is in Sand, Gravity Die and Pressure Die. Flexible Material, Heat Treatment can be applied to give added Strength, Lightness, Corrosion Resistance and High Conductivity. Applications include. Ornamental, General Engineering, Marine, Hydraulics, Safety Equipment etc. Zinc The process offered is Sand. This is a hardwearing material, with a lower melting temperature than aluminium, with very good protection against corrosion. Applications include: Automobile Industry, Door Handles / Locks etc. Copper Based Alloys * Brass (SCB & DCB) * Phosphor Bronze (PB) (Copper Based Alloys) * Gun Metal (Copper based alloys) The process offered for these is Sand. With common properties due to the mix of only alloys means a varying degree of corrosion resistance, pressure tightness, strength and wear resistance, self colouring and self lubricating. Applications include: Ornamental, Marine Industry and Pumping Facilities, Food etc.

  • Aluminium Sand Castings

  • It is a cast component in Aluminium or Brass, Zinc or Gunmetal and is formed by having either Wood or Resin patterns. It’s worth noting that Resin Patterns have an affinity with airset moulding, this affinity works extremely well when Resin patters are used instead of wooden patterns. The Airset processes has a chemical make up of Resin and catalyst, together they form with the silica sand to create a rigid Airset mould thus allowing the manufacturer to achieve repeatability in quality and surface finish. Using an Airset Sand core positioned in the Airset mould cavity produces the internal configuration. * Airset Sand Casting moulded can be either in Aluminium, brass, Zinc or gunmetal. * Small volumes or Proto-type of Airset Sand Castings can be produced. * Moulded Airset SND Castings can also produce large and intricate shapes and still maintain quality parameters. * Airset Sand Castings moulded with particular attention to achieving quality accepted surface finish and thus keeping manufacturing cost down to suit our customers. * Constant monitoring of the grain sizes of the Silica Sand used in process of Airset Sand Castings. * Moulding sand is reclaimed and monitored enabling good Airset Sand Castings to be produced. * Monitoring of Airset Sand Castings for quality. * Airset Sand Castings are less expensive than conventional moulding i.t Green Sand moulding. Pattern equipment needed for Airset Sand Castings are less expensive to that of Gravity Die-casting.

  • Gravity Die Castings

  • The component can be produced in either Aluminium or Zinc. Using a permanent mould called Gravity Die Tooling. Gravity Die Castings are produced by molten metal entering an aperture in the Gravity Die Tooling, this aperture allows metal to enter the cavity to form the cast shape of the Gravity Die-Casting required by the customer. * Gravity Die Casting produced in all grades of Aluminium and Zinc. Higher volumes of precision castings are achievable using the Gravity – Die Casting, external or internal is either produced by means of a purpose made steel core or as previously mentioned an Airset sand core. * Gravity Die Castings produced are cost effective for quantities of a semi to high volumes. The finishing operations on a Gravity Die Casting are minimal compared to a conventional sand casting, usually on a Gravity Die Casting the joint line is minimal and in some circumstances the need for an operation is not required. * Mechanical means are some times required for opening and closing of Die Tooling if the Gravity Die Casting to be produced is large and complex. * Gravity Die-Castings if required by specification can be heat treated to adjust or improve its characteristics. * Improvement to production rates of Gravity Die Casting can be improved by the use of multiple tooling. * A Gravity Die-Tooling is able to produce Gravity Die Castings for several years without the need of refurbishment. Pressure Die Casting - What Is Pressure Die Casting? The component, produced in all grades of aluminium or Zinc, is formed from a Steel or Iron Tooling Equipment using Molten Metal which is forced under pressure into the running system. * Used for all grades of Aluminium and Zinc. * Ideal for very small or medium components with intricate shapes and accurate tolerances. * Expensive to produce tooling equipment. * Very inexpensive to produce component.
